Here at HM&OC our goal is to treat every person with empathy and compassion. We promise to deliver treatments in an open and honest manner. We will not only tell you when we believe we can help but we also will tell you when we can’t. We aim to treat the whole person in managing ones symptoms. Our desire is to get to the cause of the dysfunction as soon as we can to make treatment as efficient and affordable as possible in a timely manner.
All of our Therapists are highly trained & believe in a multidisciplinary, team focused approach.
Osteopathy is based on four guiding principles:
We take a whole person approach and consider physical injury, posture, emotional stresses and more. There are no protocols or standardized treatments. We treat each person as a unique individual.
Individuals of any age with complaints of pain, numbness, weakness, stiffness or tightness may benefit from Osteopathic Manual Treatment.
These symptoms may be a result of injury, accident, repetitive strains, under-use or misuse, degenerative or arthritic changes, pregnancy and childbirth or following surgery or dental work.
Our founder, Derek Hodgins, has more than 20 years of Manual Therapy experience.
Derek is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, a Registered Massage Therapist and has completed an Honours Degree in Kinesiology. He started teaching Advanced Techniques and Clinical Assessment at a government regulated Massage Therapy College in 1998 and has taught Structural Kinesiology internationally. In 2002 Derek began as a Teaching Assistant at the Canadian College of Osteopathy and to this date he continues as a Clinical Supervisor.

Traditional Osteopathy, as presented by the Canadian College of Osteopathy, is defined as:
“A natural medicine which aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. To achieve this goal the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner relies on the quality and finesse of his/her palpation and works with the position, mobility and quality of the tissues.”
Massage therapy can be an important part of your health maintenance plan by:
Massage therapy can be used for the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. RMTs can work with a wide variety of patients, of all ages, in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation and disability.
Athletic therapists adhere to the Sports Medicine Model of care. They treat a wide range of patients, from kids with concussions to seniors recovering from hip replacement surgery, using various manual therapies, modalities, exercise prescription and even bracing and taping. The treatment varies but the objective doesn’t: an Athletic Therapist's goal is to help clients return to their usual activities, whether that means playing competitive sports or walking to the mailbox and back.
